Honest diagnosis, first
We find the actual cause before we quote anything. If the fix is a $12 part, that's what we'll tell you — repair before unnecessary replacement, every time.
Explained in plain language
You'll know what failed, why it failed, and what your options really are. No jargon, no scare tactics, no mystery line items.
Local knowledge that matters
Sonoma County homes range from Victorians to brand-new rebuilds, and their plumbing problems differ by era and neighborhood. We know both — because we live here too.
Quality workmanship
Strapped, supported, pressure-tested and code-current. Our work photographs well because it's done right — look at the project gallery below.
Respect for your home
Shoe covers, drop cloths, minimal openings, and a clean-up you won't have to redo. We work in your home like it's ours.
Family, literally
It's called Family 1st because it is one: Andy’s son and daughter work in and around the business, with Andy's face on the truck. Licensed (CSLB #1050780), bonded and insured — and when you call (707) 228-4595, you're talking to the people who do the work.
The face on the truck is the guy who answers for the work.
Family 1st is owned and run by Andy Moody, a Santa Rosa plumber with decades of hands-on plumbing experience — and yes, that's him on the logo. Andy built this company on a simple promise: diagnose the real problem, explain it straight, and never sell a homeowner something their house doesn't need.
The name is literal. His son and daughter work in and around the business — two generations behind every job, which is a different kind of accountability than a franchise can offer.
That promise is why the reviews read the way they do.

Five stars isn't a goal. It's the current score.
Andy was a star — kind, professional, and got the job done! Definitely will call Andy next time we have a plumbing need. Refreshing to experience such great service!
Family First was excellent to work with! Andrew was on time, under budget, had good ideas, was flexible, resourceful, and communicative. Would have him back out in a heartbeat!
I highly recommend this plumbing company. They responded right away, and sent out a technician within the hour to fix my plumbing issue. They were very courteous, took the time to explain how they were going to fix the issue, and cleaned up after themselves. Give them a call—you will not be disappointed!!
Water heaters: repair when it's smart, replace when it's honest.
- Straight repair-vs-replace math — no replacement quota
- Tank and tankless, installed to current California code
- Seismic strapping, expansion tanks and venting handled
We don't just clear the clog. We end the cycle.
A drain that clogs on a schedule is telling you something's wrong inside the pipe. We clear it, camera it when it recurs, and show you the footage — so the fix matches the finding, and the quarterly clog stops being quarterly.
Old galvanized pipes? New pipes, done once, done right.
Pre-1965 Sonoma County homes often still carry original galvanized supply lines — decades past their design life. We repipe in copper and PEX with clean, permitted, pressure-tested workmanship. And if your pressure problem isn't a repipe problem, we'll tell you that too.
RepipingBased in Santa Rosa. At home in all of Sonoma County.
Different towns, different housing stock, different plumbing. From Petaluma's Victorians to Windsor's subdivisions to wine-country estates in Healdsburg — we know what's behind the walls, because we open them every day.
